FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Starting therapy is a meaningful step. This FAQ page answers common questions about therapy for women, telehealth counseling, insurance, and what to expect when beginning services at RISE Counseling & Consulting Services.
Is therapy right for me?
Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or disconnected from yourself. Many clients seek therapy not because something is “wrong,” but because they want support, clarity, or emotional balance during a stressful season or life transition.
You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
What do you help with in therapy?
RISE provides therapy for adult women experiencing:
Anxiety and chronic stress
Burnout and emotional exhaustion
Life transitions and identity changes
Trauma and unresolved past experiences
Low self-worth, boundaries, and people-pleasing
Feeling high-functioning but emotionally overwhelmed
If you’re unsure how to label what you’re experiencing, that’s okay—therapy meets you where you are.
What happens during the first therapy session?
Your first therapy session focuses on understanding what brings you in and what you’re hoping to gain from therapy. You’ll have space to share at your own pace, ask questions, and begin identifying goals together.
There is no pressure to share everything right away.
How long are therapy sessions and how often do we meet?
Therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Many clients start with weekly sessions, with frequency adjusting over time based on progress, needs, and scheduling preferences.
Your therapist will collaborate with you to create a sustainable therapy plan.
Do you offer online therapy or telehealth counseling?
Yes. RISE offers secure telehealth therapy for clients in Virginia. Online therapy allows for flexibility, privacy, and convenience—especially for women balancing work, family, and personal responsibilities.
Do you accept insurance for therapy?
RISE accepts select insurance plans and also offers self-pay options. Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend reviewing our Rates & Insurance page or contacting us to verify benefits before scheduling.
I want to work on my trauma—do I have to talk about everything?
No. Trauma-informed therapy prioritizes emotional safety and pacing. You do not need to share details before you feel ready, and healing does not require reliving past experiences.
Therapy focuses on helping you feel grounded and supported in the present.
How do I know if therapy at RISE is a good fit for me?
A strong therapeutic relationship is built on trust, comfort, and mutual respect. It’s okay if it takes time to feel settled. Open communication is encouraged, and therapy should feel collaborative and supportive.
